To the CJP Community
The weeks continue to fly by, each one as full and vibrant as the last. This week was no exception. Despite the uncertain weather, the rain and smoke held off just enough for us to enjoy a wonderful Outdoor [Indoor] Spring Picnic last evening. It was a fun and lively evening filled with games, activities, great food, and most importantly, time spent together as a community. A heartfelt thank you to our School Council/Parents Association for planning and hosting such a successful event.
Guests at the picnic also got an early look at our new murals, which generated much excitement. We’re looking forward to getting them mounted on the exterior of the school. While we don’t have a confirmed installation date yet, we’re hopeful this will happen before the end of June. Keep an eye out!
Our Grade 6 students completed the Math Part A Provincial Achievement Test (PAT) on Friday morning - two PATs down, three to go next week.
In addition to this, we were honoured to welcome Elder Shirley Hill to our school on Wednesday and Thursday. Through storytelling, conversation, and gentle wisdom, Elder Shirley helped students connect with Indigenous ways of knowing in meaningful, age-appropriate ways. Her visit was a powerful reminder of the importance of listening, respect, and relationship in all our learning. Highlights included hoop dancing and a special visit from Lemon. We are deeply grateful to Elder Shirley for supporting our continued commitment to building a stronger sense of belonging through our connections to land, community, and diverse systems of knowledge.
Looking ahead, next week brings more Grade 6 PATs, field trips to explore and enjoy nature, the final stages of curriculum and assessment work, and preparations for both Sports Day and our Grade 6 Farewell celebrations.

Work Bee: Thank you so much to all the volunteers who came out to the final Work Bee this past Tuesday and throughout the school year. Without you, this project would not be possible. Together we accomplished so much to help the amazing CJP staff. Your efforts have made a lasting impact.
Spring Picnic: Thanks to all the CJP Families who came out despite the less than ideal weather conditions yesterday. There was so much fun to be had, and we had it together. It was lovely to share space with all of you as we gear up for the end of the school year and celebrate the new beginnings with the new CJP Murals.
