Parents & Guardians of CJP,
Thank you to school council and any families that were involved in the planning and facilitation of the Taco Feast for teachers last night. I know I speak for all staff when I say events such as this are incredibly helpful in a practical sense (not a lot of time to grab a quick bite between end of classes and start of conferences) and very much appreciated in a general sense.
It’s been busy here at CJP leading into the spring break. Beyond preparing for the conferences, we’ve had two author visits (Dan Devoe and Dr. Venita Ramanna), a short lacrosse residency with Elev8 Lacrosse, a longer martial arts residency with Sentenashi Karate, field trips to the Calgary Zoo and Telus Spark, a visit from Lito (hawk) from the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, and a Friday afternoon grade 5/6 basketball tournament at Beddington Heights.
Just a reminder, we are now headed into Spring Break. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 2nd, not Monday, April 1st. Have a safe break everyone!
Student Learning Conferences
Thank you to all the families that were able to attend our Student Led Conferences over the past two days. We always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with families when it comes to sharing and/or discussing student progress and achievement. If you were unable to attend, please know teachers are only a phone call/email away.
Final Reminder! - Notice of Intention of 2024-25 School Year
Please reply by end of day (today), March 22, 2024.
It is the time of year that we start to make plans for next year. Each year at this time the CBE provides schools with information about the number of expected student enrolments for each school. The accuracy of this information is vitally important when we consider the number of classrooms and number of staff members that we plan for next year. With that in mind, we are asking families to please let us know their intention for the 2024-25 school year. Should you be unsure about your plans for next year that is important information for us to know as well. When completing the intention form, please indicate that you are unsure and we can follow up with you at a later date.
Please fill out one form for each child that you have attending Captain John Palliser School.

Thank you for your help in providing us the most up to date and accurate information possible.

Staff Appreciation- Taco Feast
Our Taco Feast was a great success with all the delicious offerings our community brought! Having a break from a very full day like Student Led Conference evenings is a great opportunity for us to show the teachers how much we care and it wouldn’t be possible without all of our amazing contributors. Thank you!
IXL Feedback - CJP School has provided students with access to IXL online over the past year, and we would love to hear your thoughts on this at home learning tool. Please fill out this 2-minute feedback form. Thank you! https://forms.gle/NXr6ke3sYd8Lwfx26
Parent's Speaker Night: CJP School Council & Parents Association invite you to save the date, Thurs, May 2, for an informative and engaging evening with literacy expert, Hanna Stroud of My Literacy Space. This is a free, parent focused event. Dinner and refreshments will be served. Registration details will follow after spring break.
Volunteer Work Bee: Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who were able to help with our first Work Bee. There has been very positive feedback and many expressions of appreciation for the help. In 5.5 hrs our group was able to complete all the various projects left for us from grades K-6. And I'm happy to report that at the end of the day there were already new projects waiting for when we meet next.
This volunteer opportunity has been created to provide support to the school as a whole without putting a burden on any individual teacher or altering the rhythm of a classroom while giving volunteers more time flexibility. If you have been wanting to help assist teachers with tasks for student learning and enjoy a social opportunity to get to know other parents/guardians then please consider joining our monthly Volunteer Work Bee. All work is completed as a group on the gym stage. Morning and afternoon shifts are available for your convenience.
Volunteer Work Bee, May Production Gr. 3-6: Calling All Theater Stage Hands!
Our Work Bee group has been asked to help with preparations for the upcoming Gr. 3-6 May Production. Some tasks would be sorting costumes into provided categories and sourcing what costumes and or props that are still needed via donations or on loan etc. This will take many hands to accomplish so if you are someone who would like to volunteer your expertise please sign up using the link below.
For all Volunteer Opportunities please use this link www.CJPPA.ca/volunteer
Volunteers must have a valid CBE Security Clearance.
